I am a great fan of Manning books and their MEAP access program which let you read books chapters all along their writing.
They usually focused their publications to developers but sometimes they also have SQL Server books. Why do I love their books? Just because they are usually written by the most competent and famous people in each technology. That’s why their books are quite always the most interesting for their technical content but they are also always very pragmatic and practical.
Why do I talk about this today? Is there because I have some actions in the company? Unfortunately not. I want to focus on a new upcoming book that I think it will be a must have:
- That’s the first time I see an entire book written by 53 MVP’s
- I talks about every subject of Sql Server
- For each sub-subject there is a really great specialist.
And finally the best for the end, for the TSQL part of the book there is some writers that are also participants, winners or friends of our challenges and we are really proud of that.
The books is estimated to be available by November but most of the chapters are already available (by MEAP subscription), and you can get 50% off your purchase with this following coupon which expires in 09/30 midnight (GMT-5): pop0928
if you want to taste it, you must get the free chapter about data islands by the TSql rock’n’roll star Itzik ben-gan that you can download here: http://www.manning.com/nielsen/nielsenMEAP_freeCh5.pdf
A last word about that, 100% of author royalties go to support War Child International
Good read!
